PLEASE NOTE:

Most of the info on this site was "concieved" in the "old" There days and as such might be obsolete although I'm slowly updating it. I'm working on a new site with updated info. Hope to have it ready for the official opening of the new There.com.

PortaZones

Note: Af of june 19 There has changed the names of zones and lots to reflect the upcoming changes in real estate of july 1st. As soon as possible I'll rewrite all my information about zones to reflect this...

One of the most fun thing in There is to build your own place.

There are two ways of getting your own place:

  1. Rent one of the prebuild houses spread out all over most of the islands.
  2. Build it all from the ground up by yourself.
I will only deal with number 2 as that is my only experience so far.

Before you can build or put anything out you need to rent a place or piece of land to build. To do that you need to get a Portable Zone, in short a.k.a. PAZ. A paz is a square area marked by a pole in each corner connected with a rope. Later you can remove the rope and poles. The area covered by this zone is considered yours.

You can put out the paz almost everywhere, but there are certain areas that are "sacred" - you will get a message if you happen to try at one of those areas. Also there are some rules to obey (see Real Estate Placement Policies in ThereCare).

Tip: You can put out a paz not only on the ground but also up in the air or even out in space. You just have to be at least 500 meter above ground (not water level but the ground straight under you).

Tip: A paz "embrases" a box-shaped space that is 500 meter high - on ground some of the "box" might be under the ground surface (haven't quite figured out the "formula" yet).

When you have bought a paz, found the right spot and put out the paz - it's time to build inside it.

To be continued...
